In order to keep the car competitive in racing, along with homologation rules changing, special homologations were produced. The rules were such that the race versions were to reflect the street car aerodynamically and in engine displacement. This brought to life the Evo 1, 2 and Sport evolution. Some of these models had leases weight, better aerodynamics, brake ducting, taller wheel arches and of course more power. There were few limited edition models based on evolution models with special features such as paintwork and/or unique interior schemes celebrating champion ship wins. Cecotto, Ravaglia, Europan and Europameister to name a few. The original E30 M3 ceased p
