The Legend of Le Mans: Ford GT40

#DidYouKnow?
The Ford 'GT40' gets it's name cause of the height of the car. It stands 40 inches above the ground.

1966 Ford GT40 MK2
Back in the day the Le Mans was one of the most important races in the racing calendar. Since 1960, Ford wanted to have a racing car competing at the Le Mans (24 hour race). As a result the Ford GT40 was introduced. The GT40 made it's debut in 1964 at the Nurburgring which was followed up with the appearance at the 1964 Le Mans. The car failed to finish both races and even in the 1965 Le Mans the car was a huge failure.
This didn't stop Ford from competing and this led to a Le Mans victory in 1966 where they were not only placed first but second and third as well, beating their rivals from Ferrari. Later on, the mighty Ford went on to win four consecutive Le Mans races from 1966 to 1969 which made this machine a piece of history. Up-to date the car is still being produced after over four decades of productions and is still one of Ford's most popular Automotive machinery.

"The GT 40 has won more prestigious race events than any other model road-race car in history."
